Exchange 2000 Server 24Seven

On this page you will find links and documents that were mentioned in the
book. Also, if there are any errors that I find, I will include an errata
sheet here. Please feel free to e-mail me if you find any errors or
things that need clarification. Please visit the FAQs and Technical /
Networking Resources pages on my site for additional information that you
may find useful.
You are going to find a number of documents here (PDF and .DOC) format
that were originally part of the book, but we had to cut about 100 pages out
of the manuscript in order to meet the maximum page count that we could
print, so that content ended up here. Much of it has not been edited, so you
get to see what my work looks like without the fine touch of the editors and
technical editor. Scary, eh?
Anything with a "-" in front of it is referenced in the book while
anything with a "+" in front of it is new information that I have thought of
since the book's release.
*Errata: Yes, I know, Exinternals.com is gone! sniff,
sniff.... The Microsoft employee that was maintaining it found that it
was just too much additional work and he was not able to keep it up-to-date.
I make frequent references to that site in this book and tragically it is
gone. Refer to the
Microsoft
Exchange web site for most of the information that was found there.
I'll try to link to other utilities that you can't find on the MS site.
Chapter 1 - Getting Started with Exchange 2000

+ MBConn utility for re-connecting
mailboxes to AD accounts in bulk (from SP2)
+ Can you edit the System Messages (such as full mailboxes?) Well,
kinda. The messages are stored in a file called MDBSZ.DLL. You
need a special editor to properly edit the DLL. Microsoft has recently
released such a tool publicly called RLQuikEd. It is designed for
"regionalization" of a program. It is NOT supported and you should
test any thing you do with this tool thoroughly! Also, service packs
overwrite this file! So, if you still want to download it,
here is a link.
Chapter 5 - Status Monitoring and Reporting
- Tim Charron's
Blat
for Windows link
- Acceptable Use Policy - Still in development and
very rough. Check back!

+ Note by me! In the manuscript I wish I had come out in stronger
support of "Active / Passive" clustering. Though E2K supports "Active
/ Active", most credible clustering gurus are now recommending "Active /
Passive".

+ New! Microsoft has released the
