LDAP Ports
Exchange 2000 uses LDAP to communicate to Active Directory
domain controllers and global catalog servers. It also opens an LDAP port
for the Site Replication Service (running on the Exchange 2000 server if in
mixed mode.)
LDAP to
domain controllers 389 and 636 (SSL)
LDAP to global catalogs 3268 and 3269 (SSL)
LDAP for SRS 379
LDAP for Exchange 5.5 DS 390 (Recommended LDAP port for Ex 5.5 DSA on
DCs)
Messaging Ports
SMTP 25 and 465 (SSL, but not commonly used)
POP3 110 and 995 (SSL)
IMAP4 143 and 993 (SSL)
NNTP 119 and 563 (SSL)
HTTP 80 and 443 (SSL)
X.400 102 (See KB Q148732)
Dynamic Ports
Some services on Exchange 2000 servers such as the information
store and the DSProxy interface open a different port each time the service
starts. These ports are used by MAPI over RPC (Outlook) clients and can be
located by the client using the RPC End-Point-Mapper (port 135). These
ports can be fixed if operation through a firewall is necessary.
