Hacking and Network Security

Let me issue a quick disclaimer here! You should never use any of the tools or methods you may learn through any of these sites unless you are specifically authorized to do so. If security is not part of your job, don't be looking for holes! I DO NOT EVER advocate the illegal access of any system but I do feel it is important to understand how people are doing it so that you can protect yourself from it.

Network Security

  • NTBugTraq is operated by NT security guru Russ Cooper. It is one of the best security sites on the Internet and should be an essential place to visit for any administrator interested in securing their system.
  • Microsoft's Security Bulletins - Microsoft is learning that they cannot put their head in the sand when it comes to security issues. This section of their site is a testament to their move toward security enlightenment.
  • Windows and .NET Magazine Security Administrator newsletter web site.  Good source of information.

Hacking and Phracking

  • L0pht Heavy Industries - Home of L0PHTCrack. Lots of good links and good information. If you use their utilities, you should send them the nominal software registration fee.
  • HackerZ Hideout lists hacked sites, known vulernabilities and more.
